Cool Small House – 66.24 Square Meters Japanese House

This property has a partitioned structure and wooden design in its interior, for that reason this property is called the Ant House. This condition leads to similarities between the famous ant farm and the house. This property has a plot area of 241.12 square meters and occupies an area of 66.24 square meters. Located in the prefecture of Shizuoka, Japan. The house was completed in 2012 and designed by architects from mA-style.

The house is resembling a black cube as seen from the outside. In terms of interior, there are no clues offered by this mysterious property. There is no window in the front façade and the entry is so small, this adds to unusual facts of this house. The interior of the house is extremely brigh and all windows are very small. Strong difference is seen between the indoor and the outdoor. The space of the interior is so warm and bright, larch plywood is covering the spaces. Inside the house, some areas are delimitated and they look like spaces for hiding.

The interior and the exterior of the house share some common similarities eventhough they are different, both of them are mysterious and ambiguous. Partial walls delimitating the internal rooms but are not given partition. This identifying feature adds a sense of privacy to the inhabitants as well freedom and continuity. Room concept is reinterpreted in this project (visit archdaily).
