Inspiring Japanesse house designed for two-generation family

This lovely house is located in Tokyo, Japan, the name is N House and intended as a residence for two generation. The house was done in 2012 and developed by Takato Tamagami Architectural Design. The house occupies an area measuring 586.87 square meters. The house design is spectacular and designed to accomodate two family from different generation. A comprehensive solution was found by the architects. They came with two volumes : House-A and House-B. Each has different function and used by one generation.

The space is clearly delimitated to serve as two different house with separate functions and designed in two interlocked volumes. The two volumes were built in a site measuring 30 meters in length and 15 meters in width. In the middle of the N-House, there is a courtyard, and the shape of the house is U. The exterior is cemented with plaster and colored in white. Each of the volume has two entries with different functions, located on the same level of basement. On the same level, you can see the parking area.

The first volume, House A, has such a tunnel entrance, light alternation, and high windows, all spaces look dark. You can make a gallery in this space because it is actually a gravel garden. The other floor has a studio with high ceilings that reach 4 meter in height. This floor has a movie projector featured with shading screens and soundproof too. The living room is located on the top floor. In the next volume, the House-B, all rooms have bright interior, very relaxing and open, and all face the courtyard.
